A nice article Elizabeth, and you seem to elicited some thoughtful comments as well. I disagree a bit with holding ourselves accountable. Even if voters really tried to be informed, there is so much duplicity in most that run for office, and the "news" does little more the regergitate the slogans from stump speeches, designed to inflame the left and right wings.
