Has anyone here ever had a pro or a pal organize their stuff for them? Could them find anything after that?
My son says the house looks better than it ever has before, although there are still piles of paper, books, clothes and wire containers around -- from my sporadic attempts to make things cohere myself.
I'm stepping out in faith here to say that having a neater house will reduce my level of stress, too. Anybody have that experience?
I want to know there are a few disorganization addicts out there, too, like moi -- taking it one step at a time.

I've been following these "organizational" posts with a smile ... I've been called out! Yes, I am "one of those" who actually enjoy organizing -- and do find it therapeutic. In fact, my close friends will tell you that one look at our apartment will indicate the stress level in my life. If it's immaculate, then I must be freaking out on some level. :) And with all of the horrible, stressful events that we've gone through over the past few years ... well, you can imagine my state of affairs (even with two kids!).
Some of it, of course, comes from sheer necessity. After leaving PA and the huge home we lived in, we were forced to downsize drastically -- squeezing into a tiny, 2 bedroom apartment does not lend itself well to too much disorganization. But that's OK (sometimes) -- it's something I can handle. I struggle with living in the midst of too much chaos (inside or out ...)
If you need some help, give me a call! :)
Thank you, Sue. We have to accept so much of other people's weirdnesses, it's nice to know we can control chaos in our apartment.
an organized space can reduce stress significantly. the space does not have to be "neat and tidy", but you should be able to lay your hands on what you need when you need it. If it is a blue cap one needs, then it should have a place. It does not matter where that place is. If it most often left near the dining room table...then a peg on the wall by the table is fine. Everyone knows where it is and where it goes.
